    Exceptions without an e-Visa application

    Foreigners under paragraphs 1 to 4 of Article 8 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam do not apply for an e-Visa through this process. They must go through inviting or sponsoring organizations and submit a written visa application to the competent unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This includes, among others, members of state and party delegations, diplomatic and consular missions and related groups.

    • Members of delegations of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the President, the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister.
    • Members of delegations of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee, the Vice President, the Vice President of the National Assembly, the Deputy Prime Minister and other equivalent office and party levels (including ministers, provincial party secretaries, chairs of people’s councils and people’s committees).
    • Members of diplomatic missions, consular posts, UN and intergovernmental representations, as well as spouses, children aged 18 or over and accompanying domestic staff for a limited time.
    • People who work at such missions or visit their members.

What is the Vietnam e-Visa?

The Vietnam e-Visa is the electronic visa for international visitors. It is applied for online before travel and covers single or multiple entry with a stay of up to 90 days.

Who needs an e-Visa?

Nationals who do not benefit from a visa exemption agreement and want to visit Vietnam for regular purposes. Each person and passport needs a separate application, generally including children.

When to apply?

Early, before departure, once passport and travel details are confirmed. Check processing times and entry gates. A pre-arrival declaration may also be required.
